Springburn was absorbed into the City of Glasgow in 1872. Springburn Park was the last of Glasgow’s great Victorian parks to be marked out, and declared a park – as a result of this it had all of the best features of parks from across the city at that time. The Friends of Springburn Park was re-established in 2016 after a number of steering group meetings. The aim of the Friends of Springburn Park is to support and protect the environmental amenities and recreational facilities of Springburn Park. However another aim of the Friends of Springburn Park is to help rebuilding a sense of community within Springburn and surrounding areas, around a park that everybody can take pride in.
